3 Portrait Photography Tips in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

  1. Golden Hour - Pittsburgh is generally a fairly cloudy city. However, if you want to catch that beautiful sunset, here are a couple times. First of all your best bet is Spring - Fall. The peak golden sunsets in Pittsburgh are going to be May - October. The second easy tip for getting the golden glowy shot in Pittsburgh, pick a high point. It might sound obvious but if you are in ohio (it’s super flat) you don’t have to be high up to catch the sun. In Pittsburgh, we have so many hills and valleys, you need to think about where you are. You don’t want to be in a valley.

  2. Overcast is your friend. Now, alot of people picture beautiful sunlight when they think of their photos, but the truth is some of the most beautiful photos you can take will be on overcast days. The reason this is, is because overcast light is naturally softer, smoother light, that is flattering on all subjects.

  3. My final tips will be to give you some wonderful locations for taking photos whether you are a seasoned professional or just like taking photos for fun. The most obvious option is MT. Washington, this has a tremendous view of the city and the skyline. The 2nd really great option, the schenley park overlook, this is a great option because you get an elevated point, you get, woods grass and trees and you get the city skyline in the background.

Thanks so much for reading!! I hope this helps your photography!!
